Foyer Saint Joseph

The project proposes a two-volume extension from the gable wall of the existing building. The higher volume is reserved for sheltered housing and overlooks the public space, while the EMS extension is planned to be one storey lower and directly connected to the existing building.
The volumes thus created define a weathervane shape, creating outdoor spaces free from the imposing presence of the dairy’s facade. This playful layout allows all rooms to benefit from good orientation.
The interior organization is based on a generous, dilated distribution of space, closely linking all sectors of the EMS and apartments. The plan thus generates spheres of sociability while optimizing the work of the nursing staff.
The living room of the sheltered housing units is structured in an L-shape around the sanitary room and features a large window from the kitchen into the communal space. This feature enables tenants to have visual contact with their neighbors.
