The site lies below the village of Château-d’Oex, in an area characterized by its wooden buildings (ISOS site).
The project comprises two similar buildings built around a central private square from which access is organized. It comprises 33 apartments, a communal area and a 21-space underground garage, as well as 29 outdoor parking spaces. Each building comprises 4 apartments per level, built around a central stairwell. Inside the apartments, common areas are organized around a terrace. Each apartment benefits from a diagonal orientation, thus avoiding frontage with surrounding buildings. The facades are clad in wood that becomes a kind of claustra in front of some of the terraces, allowing them to adjust their degree of openness and privacy.
Technically, heat is produced by a single pellet-fired boiler for the entire project. To preserve the aesthetics of the roof, visible from the village, only photovoltaic panels are planned. A single-flow ventilation system provides natural air renewal, promoting a healthy indoor climate.
As for the project’s materiality, the aim was to reinterpret the authenticity of local architecture through the use of raw materials, but with a contemporary and elegant language. For this reason, particular attention was paid to the implementation of the finished look of concrete and wood.
